There seems to be this conception that women who desire to follow traditional gender roles and choose homemaking as their career are doing so because they view it as a cute aesthetic or are living out a romanticized fantasy. While this may be the case for some, there are others like myself, who, while they see a lot of beauty and appeal in that lifestyle, truly view it as the way society should function and as a God-given duty - to serve, to invest yourself fully in bringing forth life and loving and nurturing that life, to create a sanctuary where grace and truth and charity abounds. And it is truly a *job* - it is hard, messy, demanding, tiring work. But we see it as rewarding more than any other career, of paramount value - and that is where the joy and beauty of it lies above anything else, above pretty dresses and pink cookware. It is in love - in giving yourself entirely to a family, to another person - and what could be more wonderful than that?
