Life on the River

i cannot stand people who give advice like “you look beautiful just the way you are!” and “it’s on the inside that counts”. here’s the harsh truth about life: the better you look, the more you get away with. we don’t live in lala land, we live in the real world that pretty privilege exists. by looking good, you get out of situations easier most of the time, you get handed better opportunities, and it’s easier to get what you want out of life.

I grew up living a simple life in the country, which was wonderful but was also during a time when the world was changing. I grew up in a semi tradtional household. It truly terrifies me that we live in a world where wanting to fall in love and take care of that person is considered political and extreme.

"I have felt the comfort and reassurance of wet, wild places—the steady surge and flow of the sea on sand, water slipping over stones. There is meaning in the natural rhythms of dying and living, winter and spring, bones and leaves. Even in times of bewilderment or despair, there is the steadfast ground underfoot—pine duff, baked clay, stone turned red in the rain. I am trying to understand this, the power of water, air, earth, and time to bring gladness gradually from grief and to restore meaning to lives that seem empty or unmoored.”

In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different. – Coco Chanel

  • “It doesn't matter if I think like a boy or a girl. It doesn't matter anymore if I'm either or both or neither. All that shit seems so petty and immaterial now. There's so little difference between one human being and the next, it's just hypotheses, human ideas about life and the world and words that mean nothing, about definitions that mean nothing to Earth, to nature, to the universe. Boys and girls and intersex people and me--we're just ideas, and when we're dead, the ideas will go with us. It all means nothing.”― Abigail Tarttelin, Golden Boy
